London or Florida?
Hi I decided to transfer from London to small university in Weston, Florida. I have never been to states and my biggest fear is i will hate it there once i move. Previously I have been in boarding school in Geneva, then went to uni in London, now I want to transfer and do my masters in states. I loved my boarding school however i had love/hate relationship with london for 4 years and I think its time for change. But I am anxious scared and confused. Please help

Florida is ENTIRELY unlike London. It’s also nothing like Geneva. It’s weather, culture, even the look of the place is very different from what you’re used to. But that said, university is a wonderful way to explore a new place, while also having a strong support system around you. So I think, if you can find a suitable school in the US, you should give it a try.
Weston itself is a planned community, which means that, in reality, it’s not really like much of the rest of Florida, or like the rest of the US. And because the US is so vast and huge, Florida isn’t representative of, say, NY – so you should definitely take advantage of the fact that you’re in the US, and do some travel while you’re there.
Weston is a wealthy area, with a decent sized Spanish-speaking population. The biggest city in its area is Ft. Lauderdale. Weston itself isn’t on the beach, but you can drive there.
I’d have you get hold of some tourist guide books, such as the Lonely Planet or the Rough Guides, and read up on that region of Florida so you become more comfortable with it.
I do have to say one thing, a caution. Is this AIU that you’re considering? They’ve been having difficulty with their accreditation over the past couple of years. That concerns me greatly. That said, they have been able to keep their accreditation, and are currently in good standing. But *that* said, they don’t have a strong reputation in US educational circles.
