My canon vixia hf10 camcorder footage is not uploading when I insert my SD card into my computer?

For christmas I received a Canon Vixia HF10 camcorder, this shoots in HD. For some reason when I insert my SD card into my laptop, only the still images I took transfer, not the footage. I dont know what do, please please please help me.
This has nothing to do with editing programs, the problem is I CANT EVEN UPLOAD FOOTAGE TO MY COMPUTER, but I use sony vegas 8 and adobe premiere 4.

Video does not “automatically transfer”.

What video editor are you using? Microsoft MovieMaker cannot deal with AVCHD format video. Apple iMoveHD ’08 can, but you drag the MTS file into the iMovie clips pane or timeline.

You’ll get more help when you provide more detail… like computer manufacturer/model and video editor you think you want to use.
