btw im use a d40 which is like a pund and a half so like a lens that is like 7 inches long is too much
i wouldnt even think about a super telephoto!
but yah do they have attachable tripods for lenses or something else?
I’m not sure if this is the issue behind your question, but when using a long or heavy lens, you keep one hand on the lens and one on the camera.
With my left hand, I sort of cradle the lens, palm up. My right hand is on the camera itself, and the shutter release. It is a very stable shooting position. There is no stress at the junction of the lens and camera, so if you are concerned with plastic mounts, there is no issue.
When I carry the camera, I either use two hands or I carry it by the lens, not the camera.
Now, I have to admit that the first time I used a very heavy telephoto to shoot a football game, my left arm cramped up a bit by the end! But you get used to it.
