How do video cameras that record to SD cards to transfer to your computer?

I am looking for a new camera that uses flash memory / SD card. I wondered how easily it can transfer video files to the computer as easy as copying and pasting from card to computer? Moreover, there are problems with video files, and how they can be edited and so on. If I'm asked specifically for the FS100 from Canon. Thank you very much!

There should be a USB cable to connect your camcorder to your computer. Turn on the camcorder and the computer should read and display the file saved to the SD card. Then copy and paste files the camcorder to your computer.
