Computer not detecting Samsung Camcorder through firewire cable?
I have it plugged in, and I turn it on and turn it to the player mode, and its not even detecting it. No “dun DUN” like when it usually detects USB, and it doesnt show up in the computer folder. And I don’t remember there being any software coming with the camcorder. Anyone know the problem?
USB and firewire behave differently. There is no “dun DUN” with firewire devices like there is with USB devices. At the moment, your description indicates everything is behaving correctly.
So… Launch MovieMaker and “capture” the video. Don’t be too disappointed if that does not work – MovieMaker has some odd quirks and sometimes it just does not behave. Download and install WinDV – I have seen it work to import DV from miniDV tape based camcorders where MovieMaker has failed.
When the importing is complete, quit WinDV, launch MovieMaker and drag the imported video file into the “Collections” area of MovieMaker.
