recording camcorder to vcr
I made a movie on a camcorder,recorded it to a dvd recorder/vcr combo and my computor won’t recognize it.
Do I need special software for this?

You said you sent the video to the DVD/CD combo burner, but did you actually make a disc? was it DVD or CD? If on CD, you may be ok depending on the format, but if it’s on DVD, you have to go back a few steps.
Your best bet is to start from the point after the original video was recorded.
You need to retrieve that original video camera and the tape or whatever the video was recorded on. You need to recapture the video to your computer and re-edit it. Then you can save the movie to your computer.
If you had edited the movie before burning it to the disc (or if the video on the CD is in the correct format), you can save yourself some time and work and get the captured video and editing files. Then you can re-edit the video if necessary and re-export it to a video file on your computer.
Once you have the new video file you can save it along with the editing material to make DVDs, CDS, video uploads, or whatever movies you need.
It is not clear exactly what you did, so this was an educated guess.
