MiniHDV MiniDV tapes are really better for HD?

My HD camcorder uses MiniDV tapes. I wonder why MiniDV tapes done to "HDV" is much more expensive? They seem to be the same, and my camcorder can record in high definition on less expensive regular MiniDV tapes. So Why are they so expensive? They are the most expensive necessary?

The formulation of metal oxide is different – thicker in the "special HD" tapes. I've been recording HD video for several years and use the price of Sony Premium tapes for my normal work. The HD tapes are not required – unless become a professional. For large jobs, I use HD tapes … But honestly, I see no difference.
