Vixia HV30 Canon Camcorder Which firewire cable & where do you plug it in?
I have a new (refurbished) Canon Vixia HV30 Canon Camcorder. I have a MacBook Pro which has a firewire port – I used to use it with my Canon ZR300 with a firewire cable. THAT cable does not work with my new camcorder. Any suggestions on what cable to buy? And from where? Also – where on the camcorder end does it plug in to the camcorder? Into the AV area in the composite slot??

The DV port on the HV30 is a 4-pin.
The firewire 800 port on the MacBook Pro is a 9.pin.
You need a 4-pin to 9-pin firewire cable.
The DV port has not changed on the camcorders for many years.
Macs used to use a 6-pin firewire 400 port, but they now use the 9-pin firewire 800 ports.
