New Canon DSLR features of "old" Canon film camera lens?
I think buying the Canon EOS Rebel XS SLR, even if the "old" Canon Film Camera (AE1) with 3 camera lens: 50 mm medium telephoto zoom and Len Len. Can I use these three camera lenses old movie with a new digital camera and, if so, what features of the camera or len I lose, if any? Thank you.
As you listen, your FD lens mount unfortunately does not work properly in the current EF / EF-S mount camera from Canon. Canon has made the switch from EF mount in 1987 and caused some frustration for users of Canon at this time. I know several people who moved to anger specifically Nikon's decision to leave the Canon FD-mount. There are some adapters to use the EF lens mount-FD in the body, but there are some problems with this proposal. One problem is that the EF mount is very specific wiring for all the opening drive and the focus motor in the lens. This means that the Rebel XS agency has no control over the lens opening and FD should be shot "very open". The second problem is the distance between the mounting flange on the sensor. The FD mount only 42mm displacement from the plane of the film, as the EF-mount is 44mm wide film / sensor plane. This means that an FD lens adapter adaptive optics required to focus at infinity. At best, can use old lenses for macro work since the adapter will act as an extension of the goal. For what it's worth, Canon EF and EF-S are worlds better than the lenses of foodstuffs and drink in many cases. The EF 50mm F1.8 can be had for under $ 100, making the cost comparable to that of an EF to FD adapter to use your old FD mount 50 mm from the lens. The Rebel XS is often sold with 18-55 and 55-250mm kit lenses are image stabilized and the world better than their manual lenses. The point here is that the watch can not be not worth time trying to convert these old glasses.
