dvd camcorders walmart
Camcorder questions. (dvd, hard drive, minDv, taples, or tape)?
I went online trying to see the camcorders they got at walmart. now, i can figure out things quick but i like things that are simple.
1-can u transfer videos that u recorded from a camcorder that works with tape to the pc?
2-the dvd and the minDV, if u turn the cam off and back on again would it start recording on the dvd from where u left off.
3-the hard drive ones, they sound like they r really simple but do they have great video quality?

To answer your questions, the Mini DV tape camcorders works the easiest with computers. The tape holds a digital signal it’s very high quality. If the camcorder is low quality, then you will get what you pay for, but the DV format is great.
Both the DVD and DV format will start where you stopped unless you move to tape to a different spot. The DVD will record at the last point.
The Hard Drive camcorders sound super cool but they are not as easy to use as they should be. I have heard some users say that it’s sometimes tricky to transfer things correctly. As a general rule, the SD card and HDD based camcorders do to record as well as DV based camcorders. However, there are some exceptions and over the next couple of years, I expect that this will change. (Exceptions would include the Panasonic DVX-200.)
The HD camcorders are pretty cool and I’ve been saying that it should be the way of the future. One frustration has been the delay of having a HDD camcorder that records to a standard format. Why not record to a HDD using the DV format @ 25Mbs? The HDV format also does 25Mbs. The Everio GZ-HD7 can record up 30Mbps, so why does the 25Mbps format not have any takers yet?
The AVCHD has about twice the compression ability of Mpeg2. It has a max bit rate of 25Mbps also – making it have about twice the information… Why can’t we get that as consumers???
As a final note, I would stay away from the DVD camcorders. Most people I know of who have one of these do not report good results.
