A wireless battery powered band saw is a tool that would never have thought it would be able to have enough power to do the job. Well, I I was wrong. This tool is lightweight, very durable and can handle more then what is the cousin of cable can.
There are multiple uses for a battery powered cordless band saw. I am in the Chicago union local 281 irrigation facilities. We use this tool for different types of projects. We cut all our threaded rod with this tool, and cut through it like butter. It is also beautifully cut out the existing pipe and not have to drag an extension cord around. I've seen electricians cut through with ease and reduce their plastic plumbing and the copper pipe with this tool.
Around the house of this tool is ideal for remodeling projects. You can cut wood or metal with no problem, but for plywood would use a cordless battery powered circular saw.
Being lightweight and easy to manage security is not a problem. You should establish a vice and make your cuts on that. Normally I just stick to whatever I cut and use the band saw it that way. I do not recommend this. I've been in the trades of more than 20 years and have experience with this tool. Just wanted to let you know how easy it is to manage.
There are many brands and models of cordless battery powered band saws. You can buy them come with a 18V battery or those that come with a 24V battery. The blades are very easy to change and maintenance is a breeze.
On a scale 1 to 10 yo I would say that having a cordless phone battery band saw in his shop is about 7. Search online and in forums tool to obtain information about the type that your looking for.
